Professor Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President of Mansoura University for Graduate Studies and Research, affirmed that the university has achieved a new international milestone after advancing in the 2026 QS World University Rankings for Sustainability, securing second place among Egyptian government universities and ranking 613th globally.

Dr. Ghalwash added that this remarkable progress in the QS Sustainability Ranking reflects a clear strategy implemented by the university to enhance academic excellence and support research related to environmental and social fields. He pointed to the pivotal role of the Graduate Studies and Research sector in increasing scientific output related to sustainability, environment, society, and governance issues, which contributed to raising its status in international rankings. He expressed his aspirations for continued progress in the coming years.

Professor Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, had announced this achievement, confirming that this progress reflects the university's commitment to implementing the Egyptian state's vision in supporting sustainable development efforts, improving the quality of university life, and enhancing the role of academic institutions in addressing environmental and societal challenges.

The University President congratulated the Mansoura University community, including faculty members, researchers, administrators, and students, emphasizing that this achievement was realized through their efforts, alongside endeavors to develop research infrastructure, empower researchers, and increase scientific output related to environment, society, and governance issues, in addition to strengthening international cooperation and supporting academic programs connected to sustainable development goals.

The QS World University Rankings for Sustainability is based on a set of precise indicators that measure the institutional performance of universities across three main pillars:
Environmental Impact: This measures the university's ability to efficiently manage resources, develop projects to reduce emissions, and improve energy efficiency within the campus.
Social Impact: This includes the quality of education, measuring the university's impact on the community, and promoting access and social equity.
Institutional Governance: This focuses on evaluating adopted policies, the level of transparency, and mechanisms for empowerment and participation within the university.
Mansoura University distinguished itself this year through prominent efforts in green transformation projects, developing sustainable infrastructure, and implementing advanced policies for energy and waste management, alongside expanding student activities related to sustainability, which contributed to this international progress.

The university also continued to implement numerous community initiatives that foster integration between education, research, and community service, supporting Mansoura University's leading role. Furthermore, it has integrated sustainability principles into curricula and scientific and research activities, and supported student innovation in the fields of environment and development, thereby cementing the transformation of the sustainability concept into actual practice on campus.
