A team at the Faculty of Engineering, Mansoura University, invents a multi-tasking submarine to help ship maintenance

A team entitled "he Luminous MU - Sobek" at Engineering faculty- Mansoura university won the “No pain no gain*” local award

Product sepcifications:
 
1- The ROV is capable of diving up to 50 meters deep
2- The ROV is connected to a tether that power it and allow the flow of data from or to the ROV
3- The ROV is provided with cameras, sensors and integrated with software allowing it to move autonomously map underwater areas, and pinpointing the locations of underwater marine life
4- The ROV is controlled above the surface via a TCU "terminal control unit", which contains the joystick by which the ROV is controlled 
5- The ROV is provided with a gripper that allows it to perform any task that required moving objects or handling them underwater
6- The ROV is capable of using image recognition to determine the health of a coral colony by comparing its current.
7- The ROV is capable of creating a photomosaic of a subway car submerged to create an artificial reef
8- The ROV is provided with a micro ROV that could be launched inside narrow tubes to do certain tasks.

The team was supported by TICO Office,
which is funded by the Academy of Scientific Research in the first phase of the project
and will be provided with further support in the second phase.
 
The team is under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Sabri Saraya, the team supervisor.
