CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the CERN Summer Student Programme 2026. This program offers a unique opportunity for undergraduate and early-stage postgraduate students to gain hands-on experience in a world-leading scientific environment.
Participants will join a technical or scientific project within a research, engineering, or IT team. This practical work is supplemented by a comprehensive academic component, which includes:

A series of lectures delivered by leading scientists and experts covering topics in particle physics, computing, and engineering.

Workshops, discussions, and guided tours of CERN's advanced facilities.

Opportunities to collaborate with a diverse, international community of peers and professionals.
Eligibility Criteria

You must be a Bachelor's or Master's student (not a PhD candidate) in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline.

You must have completed at least six semesters (three academic years) of full-time university studies by the start of the program (June 2026).

You must remain enrolled as a full-time student at your university during your participation in the program.

You must have a good knowledge of English.

You must not have previously worked at CERN for more than 3 months or participated in a prior CERN Summer Student Programme.
Successful candidates will receive:

A subsistence allowance of 93 CHF per calendar day (tax-free) to cover living expenses.

Travel expenses to and from Geneva, Switzerland.

Comprehensive health insurance coverage through CERN's scheme.

Assistance in finding accommodation on the CERN site or in the local area.
