Applications are now open for the Vienna BioCenter Summer School for the Summer 2026 intake. This program, hosted in Vienna, Austria, offers a distinctive opportunity for high-achieving students to engage in research within one of Europe’s leading life sciences hubs.
The program is a collaborative initiative involving the Research Center for Molecular Medicine (CEMM), Gregor Mendel Institute (GMI), Institute of Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA), Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP), and the Max Perutz Labs.
Program Overview
The Summer School is a 9-week research program designed to provide participants with hands-on experience in a professional laboratory setting. Each scholar will be assigned a faculty mentor and a research project, culminating in the analysis of data and presentation of results. The curriculum is supplemented by lab meetings, journal clubs, and scientific lectures.
Eligibility Requirements
- Academic Status: Current Undergraduate (BA Hons) or Master’s (MSc) students.
- Field of Study: Life Sciences or related disciplines.
- Academic Progress: Applicants must have completed at least two years of university study by the start of the program.
Financial Support and Benefits
- Stipend: A net allowance of €1,400 for the program duration.
- Accommodation: Free student housing provided for the full nine weeks.
- Additional Support: Coverage for medical insurance and travel arrangements.
