Closing Ceremony of the German-MENA Industry and Technology Exchange "GERMINATE Symposium"

The German-MENA symposium concluded its activities, which took place at Mansoura University over two days, from November 17 to 18, 2024. The event was held under the patronage of Professor Cherif Youssef Khater, President of Mansoura University, and led by Professor Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, with the attendance of Professor Mohamed Atia El-Bayoumy, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs.

The scientific sessions on the second day discussed various topics, focusing on the importance of collaboration between scientific research and industry to achieve sustainable development. The discussions included "Scientific Research and Industrial Applications: The Gap and Solutions," presented by Dr. Alaa Idris, Professor of Technology Management at Nile University and former Vice President for Strategy and Innovation.

The lecture focused on the significance of bridging the gap between scientific research outcomes and industrial applications, showcasing examples from previous projects. This session was followed by a talk on "Artificial Intelligence Models: Achievements and Challenges" presented by Dr. Andreas Pester, Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Britain University in Egypt. This session discussed the role of artificial intelligence in vital sectors such as health, education, and industry, emphasizing the challenges of implementing these technologies in the Arab world.

The event concluded with a lecture on "Innovation in Business Models and Startups," delivered by Dr. Hadeer Hamdy, Vice President for Academic Services at Canadian Universities in Egypt. The closing session featured a distinguished group of specialists, including Dr. Marie-Luise, Professor of Computer Science at Worms University, Germany; Engineer Ahmed El-Gendy, Head of Business Development at the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority in Egypt;Professor . Ashraf Sheta, Entrepreneurship Consultant and Assistant Professor at Egypt University; Engineer Nagla Nasir, Corporate Social Responsibility Expert at WE; and Dr. Nahel Amirah, Director of Innovation Support at the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC).

The session focused on how to leverage creativity in developing business models and the importance of modern technology in enhancing the performance of startups.Prof. Mohamed Atia El-Bayoumy and Prof. Tarek Ghalwash honored all the speakers at the symposium in recognition of their valuable contributions to its success.

At the end of the symposium,Prof. Tarek Ghalwash delivered a message urging the event organizers to transform the ideas and visions discussed into practical projects that contribute to sustainable development and connect scientific research with industry, emphasizing the importance of ongoing collaboration among all participating parties in the quest for innovation and development.
