In line with Mansoura University’s commitment to medical excellence and the professional development of its medical staff, the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Center organized a series of specialized international scientific workshops. These workshops were held in collaboration with the Dutch organization "Heart for Humaine," under the patronage of Prof. Cherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, and the direct supervision of Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, with the participation of a distinguished group of international experts.
Prof. Cherif Khater emphasized that the university places great importance on strengthening international cooperation, praising the effective coordination between the university's various sectors that led to the success of this event. The field activities included performing approximately fifteen complex open-heart surgeries, intensive training sessions for young physicians and nursing staff, and scientific seminars discussing the latest techniques in cardiac surgery and interventional catheterization, further solidifying Mansoura University’s position as a leading regional center for specialized medical education.
During his participation in the events, Prof. Tarek Ghalwash confirmed that the university’s Postgraduate Studies and Research sector is adopting a clear strategy aimed at "localizing global expertise" and transforming university medical centers into international research and training platforms. He pointed out that these workshops represent a vital opportunity to integrate clinical application with scientific research. Prof. Ghalwash further explained that the university is working on opening new pathways for Master’s and Doctoral theses in cooperation with international partners, ensuring that researchers are well-versed in the latest global surgical protocols and enhancing the university’s international competitiveness in the medical sector.
At the conclusion of the events, the Dutch delegation praised the advanced infrastructure of Mansoura University’s medical centers and expressed their admiration for the efficiency of the medical teams operating under the university’s leadership. In light of the vision presented by Prof. Tarek Ghalwash, an agreement was reached to prepare future cooperation protocols. These agreements will include researcher and student exchanges, as well as the development of joint clinical and research programs—particularly in the field of specialized surgical nursing—to ensure the sustainable scientific and professional impact of these international partnerships.
