Hult Prize Competition 2024

The Hult Prize challenges young people around the world to solve the planet's most pressing issues through social entrepreneurship.

The 2024 Hult Prize Winners will receive:

  • Top Winner will win a 1 Million US Dollars Grand Prize.
  • Each of the 5 runner ups will receive $100,000 in funding. 

Combined with the $1 million grand prize, that brings the total annual prize pool to $1.5 million.

Terms and Conditions

1.  Eligibility

The Hult Prize Competition (“Competition”) is operated by the Hult Prize Foundation, Inc. (“Hult Prize Foundation”), and is open to teams of a minimum of three and maximum of five members (individually, each a “Participant” and collectively a “Team”) consisting of full- or part-time university undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in a degree program and aged 18 years of age or older. Participants must be able to provide an acceptable student status confirmation document. The Competition is void where prohibited by law. Employees of the Hult Prize Foundation, Inc, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, and suppliers, (collectively the “Employees”) are not eligible to participate in the Competition.

Additionally, Participants engaged in organizing local events are not eligible to compete in those events.

2.   Agreement to Terms and Conditions of Entry and Code of Conduct

a)    By entering and/or participating in the Competition, the Participant (“You”, “Your”) agree to be fully and unconditionally bound by these Terms and Conditions of Entry and the Hult Prize Code of Conduct published at https://www.hultprize.org/code-of-conduct/ as updated from time to time, and You represent and warrant that You meet the eligibility requirements. You agree to accept all decisions of the Hult Prize Foundation related to this Competition as final and binding.

b)    Hult Prize Foundation reserves the right to disqualify any entry, Participant or Team that, in its sole discretion, violates the letter or the spirit of the these Terms and Conditions of Entry, reasonable instructions from the Hult Prize Foundation and its representatives and agents, competition guidelines, processes, or the Hult Prize Code of Conduct, as well as for any conduct that may bring the Competition or the Hult Prize Foundation into disrepute. 

3.  General Terms

a)    There is no entry fee.

b)    Each Team will represent their university, thus Participants must be enrolled at the same university. However, Teams have the option to include one single Participant from a different university. 

c)    All Participants must be listed on the Team’s official registration. Any changes to a Team must be in writing, unanimous, and approved by Hult Prize Foundation at its sole discretion. Participants can only be registered on one Team at a time.

d)    All costs related to participating in the Hult Prize Competition or any other Hult Prize Foundation program, including but not limited to transportation, meals and accommodation, are the responsibility of the Participant.

e)    All submissions must be in English, and all official competition phases will be held in English.

4.  Competition Process

a)    Further details about the Competition process will be shared with Participants prior to and throughout the Competition and may be published at https://www.hultprize.org/how-it-works.  Such Competition process details may be updated from time to time.

b)    In addition to attending and/or participating in designated Competition events, Teams must complete mandatory milestone submissions in order to advance to the next phase of the Competition. 

c)    Teams may be required to provide convincing evidence of all claims made during any phase of the Competition in order to be eligible for advancement.

5.  Judging Panel and Selection Procedures

Teams participating in Competition pitching events may be asked to deliver a four-minute pitch. In addition, they may be asked to participate in a live public Q&A, a longer individual “call-back” discussion, and/or other additional selection processes. Hult Prize Foundation utilizes judging panels comprising experts and other third parties to select top-performing entries, teams, and participants (the “Judging Panel”). From time to time, and at its sole discretion, Hult Prize Foundation may also utilize other methods for selecting winners, such as audience or peer vote. All decisions made by any such Judging Panel and/or alternative selection method are final and binding. 

6.  Dates

The opening and closing dates and times for entries are as indicated in each competition or program. The Hult Prize Foundation reserves the right to vary and/or amend any of these opening or closing date(s) or to cancel or postpone the Competition, at any time without prior notice.

 7.  Plagiarism & Content

The Hult Prize Foundation does not tolerate plagiarism and reserves the right to report incidents of plagiarism to Participant’s university. All sources referenced in Team submissions must be cited in accordance with the citation style of Team’s university.  Business ideas/proposals must be the original work of Participants, and only one business idea can be proposed per Team.

By entering the Hult Prize Competition, you represent and warrant to the Hult Prize Foundation that you have the undisputed right, title and/or interest in the content presented in private or public for the Hult Prize Competition or any other Hult Prize Foundation-related program, and the information it contains is accurate and complete. You agree that you are not and will not be violating any contract or third-party rights including any patent, copyright, trade secret, proprietary or confidential information, trademark, publicity, or privacy rights.

8.  Use of Name and Likeness and Release

By entering the Competition, You understand and agree that the Hult Prize Foundation, anyone acting on behalf of the Hult Prize Foundation, and Hult Prize Foundation’s licensees, successors, and assigns, shall have the right, to the full extent permitted by law, to photograph, audiotape and/or video record Participants and to print, publish, broadcast, distribute, and use in any media now known or hereafter developed, in perpetuity and throughout the World, without limitation, your entry, name, portrait, picture, voice, likeness, image, statements about the Competition, and biographical information for news, publicity, information, trade, advertising, public relations, and promotional purposes without any further compensation, notice, review, or consent. Participants release and discharge Hult Prize Foundation from and against any and all claims, liabilities, costs, damages and expenses of any kind arising out of or relating to the use by Hult Prize Foundation of their image or likeness.
