In his speech, Dr. Cherif Khater emphasized that supporting innovation and entrepreneurship within the university is no longer merely an option; rather, it has become a necessity that aligns with the state's directives to build a competitive knowledge-based economy. He pointed out that providing funding mechanisms for scientific research projects and startups serves as a fundamental pillar for the success of any innovation ecosystem. He explained that establishing university or community funds to finance applied research and spin-off companies—alongside strengthening collaboration with investors, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders—creates a supportive environment capable of sustaining these companies during their early stages.
He further added that the university adopts a clear vision making innovation an integral part of its strategy, ensuring that research ideas transform into economic projects and that scientific outputs evolve into growing, competitive companies. He stressed that realizing a knowledge economy requires an integrated ecosystem that invests in human intellect and places youth and researchers at the forefront of its priorities.
In his keynote during the opening session, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗸 𝗚𝗵𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗵 emphasized that Mansoura University adopts an ambitious strategic vision for the postgraduate sector based on the actual integration of scientific research, innovation, and industry. He pointed out that the university’s 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 was not a coincidence but reflects the university's success in changing the research culture from mere "academic publishing" and "certificates" to real successes represented by global startups emerging from university labs in the fields of AI, sustainable manufacturing, and climate technology. Prof. Ghalwash stressed that the strategic goal of the sector is to transform research into investable products that create job opportunities. He called on industry leaders and entrepreneurs to strengthen partnerships with the university and leverage its advanced research infrastructure to achieve a leading model for a knowledge-based economy.

He noted that the state is taking clear steps toward establishing an integrated national policy for sustainable innovation—the first of its kind in Egypt—aimed at enhancing the innovative capabilities of higher education institutions, improving the business environment, and diversifying funding sources. He also highlighted the importance of the "Alliance and Development" initiative as a presidential framework supporting the integration of educational institutions into regional development plans through applied projects. He added that these policies represent a qualitative leap in supporting talented individuals and innovators and creating an institutional structure capable of turning research into real products and services, while promoting entrepreneurship within universities as a key path to achieving Egypt Vision 2030.
𝗗𝗿. 𝗥𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗳 presented a session titled "Education Reform for a Knowledge-Based Economy," explaining the role of the Education Support Fund in shaping the future workforce by building an advanced educational environment that supports innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship skills. She confirmed that Egypt achieved an unprecedented qualitative leap in technological training within just one year, moving from 12th place globally last year to 2nd place globally (after India) in the current quarter of 2025, leading Africa and the Arab world. She attributed this progress to the efforts of the Education Development Fund and its joint initiatives with the Ministries of Higher Education, Education, and CIT, in cooperation with Cisco. She added that the initiative successfully trained over 130,000 trainees in just two months in high-demand technological specializations globally. She noted that a registration link for the second phase of the initiative—fully funded by the Fund in partnership with Cisco—will be launched, offering 600 new scholarships and additional prizes for distinguished students, with a percentage allocated specifically for Mansoura University students.
