Chevening Scholarships open for Egyptian applicants for Academic Year 2026-27

The UK Government’s prestigious Chevening Scholarship programme is now open for applications from Egyptian citizens

Here are the three distinguished Chevening opportunities:

1. Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship

Focus: Tailored leadership development for mid‑career professionals in the cultural and creative sectors. Participants engage in workshops, two residential leadership courses, and a 4–6 week secondment at a UK cultural institution, with a bespoke learning plan.

Eligibility:

  • Citizen and resident of an eligible Chevening country (e.g. Egypt) 

  • Bachelor’s degree equivalent to UK second-class honours (2:2 or above) or equivalent professional experience 

  • A minimum of five years’ work experience by end‑2023/2024 (

  • Must intend to return to home country at the fellowship’s end and not hold dual British citizenship, nor have close ties to UK government institutions.

2. Chevening OCIS Fellowship (Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies)

Focus: Five-month self-directed research fellowship at OCIS in Oxford, concentrating on the culture, civilization, and contemporary issues in the Islamic world. Fellows reside in Oxford and engage with multidisciplinary scholars.

Eligibility:

  • Citizens of eligible countries including Egypt 

  • At least five years of academic/professional experience or postgraduate-level qualification 

  • Strong leadership potential, English proficiency, and intention to return home; also must reside in Oxford during fellowship 

  • Must not hold British or dual nationality, nor be affiliated with UK Government agencies or British Council within two years of application

3. Chevening Scholarship (Egypt)

Focus: One-year fully funded master’s degree at any UK university, covering tuition, living stipend, return flights, visa allowances, and participation in events.

Eligibility:

  • Egyptian citizenship

  • A bachelor’s degree qualifying for UK master’s-level admission

  • At least two years of post‑graduation work experience (approximately 2,800 hours)

  • Must apply to three eligible UK university programmes and secure at least one unconditional offer by the mid‑July deadline

  • Must commit to returning to Egypt for a minimum of two years after studies
