Italian Government Scholarships 2026-2027

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) is officially inviting applications for scholarships dedicated to foreign students and Italian citizens living abroad (IRE) for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. This program is designed to enhance international cultural, scientific, and technological cooperation while promoting the Italian language and heritage worldwide.

Program Overview:

  • Application Deadline: March 26th, 2026

  • Study Location: These scholarships are for onsite academic programs located within Italy.

  • Available Grants:

    • Master’s Degrees (2nd cycle): 9-month grants, potentially renewable.

    • Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM): 9-month grants for 1st or 2nd cycle programs, potentially renewable.

    • PhD Programs: 9-month grants, potentially renewable.

    • Research Projects: 9-month grants for projects under academic supervision (non-renewable).

    • Italian Language & Culture: 3-month intensive courses for students with at least an A2 proficiency level.

Eligibility & Requirements:

  • Citizenship: Selection is based on the applicant's country of citizenship; candidates may apply for only one country.

  • IRE Residency: Italian citizens living abroad must be residents of specific eligible countries, such as Argentina, Brazil, Egypt, France, Germany, South Africa, and the United Kingdom, among others.

  • Academic Prerequisites: Applicants must hold the required academic qualifications for their chosen cycle (e.g., a Bachelor’s equivalent for a Master’s program).
