Bright expectations early-career virtual panel session provided by SESAME

Lightsources.org is joining the international community in celebrating the 2023 International Day of Light by organizing a one-hour virtual panel session that brings together scientists from 4th generation light sources to share their career paths and insights into research that is taking place at their respective facilities.

The interactive panel session aims at inspiring early-career STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) professionals. It will include short presentations, discussion and questions from participants.

It will start at 18:00 CEST on 16 May.

SESAME encourages its users, particularly early-career users, to attend the session. Interested attendees may register here.

The International Day of Light is celebrated each year on 16 May following proclamation of this day as the annual International Day of Light by the 39th session of UNESCO’s General Conference in the Autumn of 2017.

This International Day follows on from the International Year of Light in 2015. It provides a platform for continued appreciation of the central role that light plays in the lives of the citizens of the world in areas of the basic sciences, education, culture and art, and sustainable development, and in fields as diverse as communications and energy.

Lightsources.org is a platform that groups 23 synchrotrons, including SESAME, and 7 FEL (Free-Electron Laser) facilities representing 24 organisations from Europe, the Middle East, the Americas, Asia and Australia.
