PMU-NAI International Patent Award

The Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU)-National Academy of Inventors International Patent Award recognizes and honors distinguished scientists, research institutions, research centers, and universities across the globe for their outstanding patents and inventions that create positive societal impact. The Award will recognize international inventor(s) whose innovative idea has received a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office within the past 5 years.  Their innovation, once transferred and/or scaled, must plausibly create a positive impact for society. The Award prize will assist in funding the commercialization of the innovator’s patented technology.

The award is open to all inventors from NAI Member Institutions, worldwide, who meet the criteria. The award will feature 3 prize categories:
  • 1st place, to be awarded $25,000
  • 2nd place, to be awarded $15,000
  • 3rd place, to be awarded $10,000

Nominations close August, 31st, 2024 at 5:00 pm EDT. Award recipients will be honored in an award ceremony, to take place the first week of December at PMU’s campus in Al-Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Recipients must be able to attend the ceremony to be eligible for the award.

Criteria

  • The innovative idea must have recieved a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office within the past 5 years
  • The innovator must be from an NAI Member Institution. View the full list of Member Institutions here.
  •  The patented innovation must be from one of the following categories:
    • Technology applications
    • Engineering
    • Medicine
    • Life Science
    • Water and Food Security
    • Disruptive Business Models
    • Sustainability
