Swedish Institute Scholarship for Global Professionals

The Swedish Institute Scholarship for Global Professionals (SISGP) is a fully-funded scholarship that covers tuition fees, living expenses, travel grants, and insurance for master’s studies in Sweden. The scholarship is open for applicants from 41 eligible countries who have demonstrated work and leadership experience in their fields.

The SISGP aims to support the development of global leaders who will contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Swedish development cooperation goals. The scholarship holders are expected to act as ambassadors for Sweden and the Swedish Institute, and to engage in alumni activities after their studies.

The application process for the SISGP consists of two steps: applying for a master’s programme at a Swedish university through University Admissions, and applying for the scholarship through the SI application portal. The deadline for both steps is 28 February 2024.

 Benefits

The Scholarship for Global Professionals is a competitive fully-funded scholarship that includes:

  • Full tuition fee coverage. The fee is paid directly by SI to your Swedish university in the beginning of each semester.
  • A monthly allowance of SEK 12,000 to cover your living expenses throughout the study period.
  • Insurance against illness and accident.
  • A travel grant of SEK 15,000 (*10,000 for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine). This is a one-time payment and does not apply for students already living in Sweden.
  • Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP) – a platform to help you grow professionally and build a network while in Sweden.
  • After your scholarship period has ended, you become a member of the SI Alumni Network. As a member, you get a unique opportunity for continued networking and professional development.

 Eligibilities

  • Be a citizen of one of the 41 countries that is eligible for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals; 
  • Apply for a master’s programme that is eligible for the SI scholarship;  
  • Be liable to pay tuition fees at University Admissions;  
  • Have demonstrated work experience; 
  • Have demonstrated leadership experience from current or previous employer, or from civil society engagement.
