COMSTECH Announces 2025 Awards to Honor Excellence in Science and Technology

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation's Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) is pleased to announce the 2025 COMSTECH Awards, aimed at recognizing and promoting outstanding contributions in the fields of science and technology among member states. These prestigious awards are presented biennially and will be conferred during the upcoming session of the COMSTECH General Assembly.

Award Categories:

  1. Lifetime Contribution Awards in Biology and Chemistry:

    • Each award includes a certificate, a shield of honor, and a cash prize of US$8,000.
  2. Awards for Excellence in Science & Technology:

    • Young Researcher Award: For scientists under the age of 40 by March 31, 2025. Includes a certificate, a shield of honor, and a cash prize of US$4,000.
    • Best Scientific Book: Recognizes authors of outstanding scientific books published by international publishers during 2023-2024. Includes a certificate, a shield of honor, and a cash prize of US$4,000.
    • Patent Award: Honors individuals for significant discoveries that have had a lasting impact on their field and the development of commercial systems. Only patents registered in the past five years are eligible. Includes a certificate, a shield of honor, and a cash prize of US$4,000.
  3. Best Research Paper Awards:

    • Awards are given in the disciplines of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics for original research published in impact factor international journals during 2023-2024. Each award includes a certificate, a shield of honor, and a cash prize of US$2,500.
  4. Excellence in Science Communication Award:

    • This inaugural award recognizes individuals and institutions in OIC countries engaged in impactful science communication and outreach activities across academia, journalism, outreach, and filmmaking. The award includes a certificate, a shield of honor, and a cash prize of US$2,500.

Nomination Process:

Nominations are invited from science academies, national research councils, universities, research institutions, and distinguished scientists who are citizens of and working in OIC member states. Submissions will be evaluated by panels of esteemed scientists and experts appointed by the Coordinator General of COMSTECH.

Submission Requirements:

  • A signed cover letter from the nominating agency or applicant.
  • Completed application form with signatures.
  • Curriculum Vitae (not exceeding 4,000 words).
  • List of publications.
  • Endorsement letter from the head of the institution.

All documents must be submitted in English, and translations should be provided where necessary.

Deadline:

The deadline for receipt of applications is Monday, March 31, 2025. Late submissions will not be considered.
