The University of Otago Doctoral Scholarship provides funding to support doctoral students studying at the University of Otago.
The Scholarship is available to both domestic and international students. Candidates for professional doctorates, as well as the PhD, are welcome to apply.

Selection is based predominantly on academic merit and the applicant's potential for research.
Domestic applicants who are eligible for our guaranteed doctoral scholarship scheme will have applications considered on a rolling basis throughout the year.
Please note that the September and November panels for 2025 have been suspended as Otago is reviewing the strategic direction of its doctoral scholarships. The guaranteed doctoral scholarship scheme remains available for 2025 applications.
